The project ‘work hard, chill hard’ (WHCH) stimulates social and economic development of vulnerable youths between 13 and 21 years old. It provides them with soft skills and sensible leisure activities, prepares them to find a job and involves them in voluntary work at Akindo (animal care, gardening, cooking, painting, animation, …).
WHCH is designed to give vulnerable youngsters the opportunity to attain a positive work-ethic, strengthen their motivation, and have a feeling of self-worth and self-value. It also enables them to experience the importance of voluntary work and to feel included in an organisation that serves a target group which is very similar to them.
We have supported WHCH from its launch in 2018 and in 2019 through enabling Akindo to organise leisure discovering sessions and regional outings.
Employees of nearby Center Parcs De Vossemeren are also very committed and they welcome the youngsters for business discovering sessions and entertainment outings.
Funding: €7,695 in17/18 and €25,000 in 18/19

Each time, I’m looking forward to come to Akindo. I can be myself there, and have the feeling to count. It’s a nice, peaceful and learning environment. When I was younger I participated in a few Akindo camps, so I know why I’m doing the work for. I even suggested to help as a volunteer in the kitchen next Christmas camp!
